About TCLT
The International Conference and Workshops on Technology and Chinese Language Teaching in the 21st Century
TCLT Standing Committee
To bridge the gap between technology and teaching methodology and curriculum as well as to enhance the exchange on technology-based Chinese language teaching, Hamilton College initiated the 1st Conference on Technology and Chinese Language Teaching in the 21st Century (TCLT1), June 8-11, 2000. With the success of TCLT1 and a growing demand for this conference, TCLT Standing Committee was established and Hamilton College continued sponsoring this conference series. TCLT2 was co-sponsored by Hamilton College and Yale University and held at Yale University (June 7-9, 2002). TCLT3 was co-sponsored by Hamilton College and Columbia University and held at Columbia University (May 28-30, 2004) with the conference name changed to the 3rd International Conference and Workshops on Technology and Chinese Language Teaching in the 21st Century in order to accommodate the increasing overseas scholars from more than 10 countries and regions participating in TCLT1 and TCLT2, respectively. With this new conference name, TCLT Standing Committee has organized six more conferences, which are TCLT4, co-sponsored by Hamilton College and University of Southern California (University of Southern California, May 5-7, 2006), TCLT5, co-sponsored by Hamilton College and University of Macau (University of Macau, June 6-8, 2008), TCLT6, co-sponsored by Hamilton College and The Ohio State University (The Ohio State University, June 12-14, 2010), TCLT7, co-sponsored by Hamilton College and University of Hawaii (University of Hawaii, May 25-27, 2012), TCLT8, co-sponsored by Hamilton College and Tufts University (Tufts University, June 6-8, 2014), and TCLT9, sponsored by and held at University of Macau, May 27-29, 2016.
A combination of in-depth panel discussions on technology-enhanced Chinese language teaching and hands-on workshops on up-to-date technologies in Chinese language teaching is the feature of TCLT conference, which (up till TCLT8) have attracted hundreds of professionals from 240 institutions in 17 countries and regions and have presented over 700 selected papers in the field and 40 plus hands-on workshops on uptodate technologies in Chinese language teaching.
To further the exchange and discussions on the research and application of educational technology in Chinese language learning and teaching, TCLT launched its double blind, peer-reviewed online publication Journal of Technology and Chinese Language Teaching (JTCLT) in 2010 and published its in-print supplement Series of Technology and Chinese Language Teaching in the U.S. (《美国科技与中文教学系列》) with China Social Sciences Press (中国社会科学出版社) since 2012. JTCLT is registered with the U.S. ISSN Center administered by the Library of Congress (1949-260X), indexed with MLA, Google Scholars, EBSCO, and ESCI (beginning in 2016, under evaluation for SSCI).
