Low-stakes refers to “formative” assessment but emphasizes that the skill level assessment
is in the hands of learners and program managers. The learners won’t be penalized by the tests.
This workshop will introduce two low-stakes assessment tools and help the participants
learn how to use them: CCALT (https://ccalt.osu.edu/ and CAVO (https://cavo.osu.edu/).

利用互动性地图聚焦地方/空间——探索动态区域文化
The Role of Place-based Education and Interactive Maps in Foreign Language and Culture Education
Presenter: 黄丽玲 (Liling Huang), Boston University
区域文化常在标准化的语言教学材料中缺席,固化了学生对国家文化特性的既有看法,更导致其忽略了地方文化的多样性。基于互动式地图,结合多媒体信息资源等真实语料,将数据和地点可视化,有助于学生在有意义的情境中感受具体的地理空间,理解抽象的地方性文化,并加深自己的地方认同感。本讲座将分析讲者如何在各年级的汉语课堂上,围绕“地方/空间”这一主题,将互动式地图作为语言文化输入和输出的工具,结合项目式学习(Project-based Language Learning),虚拟实地考察(virtual field trip)等教学方法,引导汉语学生探索自我及他族的动态区域文化,并在跨文化对话中构建自我认知的第三空间。
